Best Antigua Guatemala Breakfast and Brunch

They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and the top restaurants in Antigua will have you waking up early just to snag the first table at the best breakfast and brunch spots.

Also, coffee in Guatemala is not like any coffee I have ever tasted. (If you get a chance, check out all of the coffee shops, go on a coffee tour, and see how it is grown on the coffee plantation!).

The coffee is so amazing here due to the perfect climate, high altitude, and volcanic soil that is super rich in nutrients for the coffee beans.

Therefore, no matter where you go, there will be great coffee.

So let’s talk about the food. There are plenty of great places to get breakfast in Antigua, but these five restaurants stand above the rest.

Cafe Condesa

Our list of the best breakfast spots starts with a local restaurant called Cafe Condesa. It’s one of the top restaurants in Antigua and is farm-to-table and serves only the highest quality ingredients.

Cafe Condesa’s amazing restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch, but it’s best known for its breakfast. The eggs are some of the best you will ever have, and they brew their coffee to perfection. The restaurant is known for its quiche of the day, which features the freshest local ingredients.

Their desserts like blackberry cake, apple pie, and cheesecake will satisfy anyone’s sweet tooth. In addition, if you come on Sunday, Cafe Condesa has an incredible brunch buffet that features food from all over the globe. The options seem to be endless, and all of them are delicious.

The most popular dish at Y Tu Pina Tambien is the pineapple pancakes made with fresh pineapple and a side of bacon. The combination is heavenly and something you won’t find at any other restaurant.

Other popular menu items include smoothies, sandwiches, and eggs. If you are a vegetarian, you are in luck. Y Tu Pina Tambien serves up many different vegetarian dishes that are delicious, including one of the best avocado toasts in Antigua.

The Rainbow Cafe is best known for its American-style breakfast foods. The pancakes are some of the best and come in various flavors. However, they also have a traditional Guatemalan breakfast which includes fresh, warm tortillas, eggs with tomato, cream, beans, and fried plantains.

The Antigua Guatemala Market has just about everything. You can buy fresh flowers, meat, groceries, toiletries, tools, and more. This market is the best place to buy fresh produce, and don’t forget to bargain!

Artisan Market

The artisan market in Antigua is best known for handcrafts and souvenirs. However, large portions of the market also sell groceries, fresh fruits, and vegetables. Visiting this market is one of the best ways to get a souvenir for home while also trying out some fantastic fresh food.

Caoba Farms

Caoba Farms is my favorite place to get groceries in Antigua. It is a local, sustainable farm that produces tons of fresh organic produce for restaurants in all of Antigua and Guatemala City.

Onsite they have a farm-to-table local restaurant, a playground for kids to play, an area for daily yoga classes, and host weekly a farmers market.

You can explore and take a tour around the organic farm to see exactly where and how the food is grown.

Also, the most important part, they have an onsite store in which you can buy fresh groceries picked and washed straight from the organic farm and gardens outside the door!

It was absolutely amazing to be able to walk through and explore the fresh vegetables being grown and then pick up a basket and buy our groceries for the day from the farmer’s market.
